Austin Stuchul

Team Captain Austin Stuchul is in his fourth year running for the Penn Hills Cross Country Program. He began his running career in fourth grade running for the Penn Hills Eagles Track Club. His academic achievements have seen him named to multiple high honor roll lists and earning a cumulative 4.3 GPA. Austin is also an avid member of the district’s theater department. He has stared in musicals and plays since his 10th grade year. Most recently, he played the lead role of Guy, in the dinner-date comedy Check Please!

Austin plans to study neurology after high school. He would like to research the link between neurological changes in the brain and how they affect other areas of the body.

Favorite Sport: Cross Country

Favorite Class: He couldn’t pick just one: Coding 3 with Mr. G, AP Physics with Mr. Gorman, AP psychology with Ms. Stillio, German 1-3 with Herr Diehm


Advice to future High School Distance Runners:

  • Don’t forget your spikes

  • Pace yourself

  • Find a friend to be your running buddy, they’ll make you run faster and vice versa.

  • Your mind matters just as much as your body; keep a healthy and positive mental state

  • Some days, you’ll feel awful mentally and physically, but don’t ever give up, the dedication pays off in the end.
